ART SHOW REVIEW
I went to the UCSB art show yesterday at room 479. I've never been in that building before and it was a really delightful art show. First I visited the dome artwork in the main building called Telemodelectriver by Julian Alexander Scalia that was made with CRTs, conduit, oil drums, and video. This installation was very intense because first you just follow a couple of arrows cut out of carpet padding into a room with a huge white dome and weird video images inside of it. There is also blasting music in each corner of the room, and when I went into the dome I felt a very claustrophobic but I thought the artist did a really good job in making it a very unique and intense experience. I also saw all the wood pieces of artwork, and my friend even climbed on top of the enlarged table/chair piece, it was pretty amazing how large it was. I also really loved the part digital part plastic pieces. The colors were so vibrant it looked almost like they were from an oil spill. The food was amazing too, I never realized how much fun the art shows on campus are. I can't wait for the next one.
