KIP'S LECTURE
I really enjoyed Kip's lecture today. We learned about a lot of different artists and watched a couple different videos. One of the videos that really left a mark was the Cinsyn video clip. It was about two Asian UCLA students who were writers for the UCLA newspaper and were going to write a story about the evils behind beauty pageants. Sin was to go undercover as a pageant contestant, however Sin ended up winning the pageant and she decided not to participate in the story because she was receiving gifts and money. Her partner, that she was not really friends with, on the story made a video pretty much calling her out and how she kept using her beauty to get further with her celebrity. I believe that Sin did not do anything wrong, she used her beauty as a tool and that is what a lot of people do in our society, but you have to remember your appearance is just a tool, it is not who you are. I feel very deeply about this and I think the girl in the video seemed jealous and somewhat obsessive.
